چکیده

OBJECTIVE To compare pure-tone audiometry and auditory steady state response (ASSR) to measure hearing loss based on the severity of hearing loss in frequencies. STUDY DESIGN AND SETTING A total of 105 subjects (168 ears, 64 male and 41 female) were enrolled in this study. We determined hearing level by measurement of pure-tone audiometry and ASSR on the same day for each subject. RESULTS Pure-tone audiometry and ASSR were highly correlated (r=0.96). The relationship is described by the equation PTA=1.05 x mean ASSR - 7.6. When analyzed according to the frequencies, the correlation coefficients were 0.94, 0.95, 0.94, and 0.92 for 0.5, 1, 2, and 4 kHz, respectively. CONCLUSION From this study, authors could conclude that pure-tone audiometry and ASSR showed very similar results and indicated that ASSR may be a good alternative method for the measurement of hearing level in infants and children, for whom pure-tone audiometry is not appropriate.

Background: Cortical Evoked Response Audiometry (CERA) refers to prediction of behavioral pure-tone thresholds (500-4000 Hz) obtained by recording the N1-P2 complex of auditory long latency responses. CERA is the preferred method for frequency–specific estimation of audiogram in conscious adults and older children. CERA has an increased accuracy of determination of the hearing thresholds of ale...

Background & Aim: Auditory steady state response(ASSR) is an auditory evoked response that has received a lot of attention nowadays. At present, ASSR is mostly used to estimate pure-tone thresholds. Clinical evidence of ASSR in combination with findings for auditory middle latency response (AMLR) and 40 Hz response support the assumption that based on stimulus modulation rate, the ASSR anat...

[Multiple auditory steady-state responses to bone conduction stimuli].

OBJECTIVE To assess the accuracy of threshold using the multiple auditory steady state responses (MASSR) to bone conduction stimuli in a group of patients with conductive hearing loss. METHOD Thirty patients with conductive hearing loss were assessed by MASSR and by pure-tone audiometry, and compared the results of these two methods. RESULT The thresholds of MASSR and those of PTA were sign...

Validation of multi-channel auditory steady-state response in adults with sensorineural hearing loss.

OBJECTIVE For various medico-legal and financial reasons, some patients may clinically demonstrate an exaggerated hearing loss that varies in degree, nature and laterality. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether multi-channel auditory steady-state response measurement can be used as an objective test of auditory thresholds in adults with sensorineural hearing loss. STUDY DESIGN AND...
